Updates

Quick updates while I work on other things

SELLING OUT

Now that Spring classes have wrapped, I couldn't be happier that my Real Estate class is done. It has been the most boring subject for me thus far.  I expected to like it, because I love watching House Hunters and other home improvement shows.  I don't know why I made the leap that Real Estate law will be like my HGTV porn.

I found the class boring and the area unsuitable for me until I learned how lucrative it can be for a paralegal working in a highly productive closing firm. I've worked at legal mills before; what else is a bankruptcy firm?  So, I'm considering Real Estate.

I wouldn't take work home with me, mentally or physically, and I wouldn't be involved in serious issues that I prefer to avoid like Criminal or Family law.

Real Estate: All a-bored!

SOLD OUT

Last post I mentioned meeting with a group of friends for dinner.  I was really excited because I had been bummed out.  After a month of emails and confirmations and with less than four hours to go, all but one friend sold me out.  This never fails to happen.  Not necessarily everyone bailing, but last minute changes that frustrate me.
This monocle, squirrel, and wine are my new friends.

My friend and I had a great time, although a four-hour dinner was unnecessary.

The group has new plans to meet again in a couple of weeks. I am no longer willing to plan these dinners, so that I won't have any opportunity to get annoyed by wonderful people who simply have other shit going on.

UNDERVALUED

With school out for a couple of months and boredom looming around the corner, I was happy to be offered two writing assignments from Yahoo! News. I actually missed the deadline for one, because I wasn't inspired.

My recently published article has the most views of all of my stories, but because it's with Y! News, I don't get any "page views" credit.  I did receive an upfront payment will get a bonus based on performance, but in the end, increasing the number of "page views" is every contributor's goal. It's how you ultimately get paid per word, rather than per submission.

I am missing out on over 5000 page views, leaving me 997,982 views short of my goal, as opposed to the 992,871 number I deserve.
